Americans Support Tax Increase for Infrastructure Maintenance

It’s been a 180-degree turn fo all businesses across different sectors since the pandemic started. A lot of them are going down, if not closing. The economic impact of these closures is becoming so significant that the government is continuously working out contingency plans to aid all that are affected. One option that is being considered is to increase the federal tax on certain products and services to help replenish government funds.

In a recent article written in For Construction Pros, roughly three-quarters of the American population is in favor of increasing the gas tax for infrastructure maintenance. They write that approximately “49% supported replacing the gas tax with a ‘green’ mileage fee that charges an average rate of a penny per mile, with lower rates for less polluting vehicles and higher rates for more polluting vehicles.”
